The 2024 Tax Bills were mailed Monday, July 15th, 2024. Your 2024 Tax Bills should have been received and your 1st Quarter installments is currently due. The due date for the 1st quarter is August 1st, 2024 and the delinquent date is September 1st, 2024. The remaining quarters are due November 1st, delinquent December 1, 2024, due February 1, delinquent March 1, 2025 and due May 1st, delinquent June 1st, 2025 for both Real Property and Tangible Tax Rolls. There are no Motor Vehicle Tax Bills for the 2024 Tax Roll, due to the State Motor Vehicle Phase-Out Program. If your tax bill is less than $100.00, the entire bill is due in the 1st Quarter. All 2023 and prior taxes should be paid in full and if not, they are delinquent. Please contact us at (401) 364-1234 if you need updated balances due to delinquency.
ACH Withdrawal program enrollees, we will make adjustments based on the 2024 Tax Roll figures and continue to process your payments, when due. If you have any questions regarding your ACH enrollment, please feel free to call or email.
Due dates for the 2024 Tax Bills are as follows: Quarter 1-due August 1st, 2024, Quarter 2-due November 1st, 2024, Quarter 3-due February 1st, 2025, and Quarter 4-due May 1st 2025. We do allow a grace period of the month the taxes are due. In order to avoid interest charges, please have your payment postmarked by the first of the month following the due date, for example, Quarter 1 must be postmarked by September 1st, Quarter 2 must be postmarked by December 1, and so on. The Tax Rate for the 2024 Real Property taxes is $5.78 per $1,000 and $5.74 per $1,000 for Tangible Accounts. Regarding Motor Vehicles, the State of RI passed the Fiscal Year 2023 budget with funds available to complete the Phase Out Program. If you have not paid your previous years Motor Vehicle Tax Bills, your vehicle registration has been blocked and you will be unable to renew or register any new vehicle until all delinquent Motor Vehicle taxes are paid. Please note if you have delinquent Motor Vehicle taxes and your registration is blocked, all Motor Vehicle taxes will need to be PAID IN FULL prior to having the block cleared.
If you have received a delinquent notice or know your account has accrued interest, please contact the Tax Collector's Office at (401) 364-1234 to get an updated figure before sending in your payment. If you have received a delinquent notice on your Real Property account, it does not include your Motor Vehicle account and you will need to call for the interest on your Motor Vehicle account. If your registration is blocked, you will need to pay your taxes IN FULL, with cash, money order, bank check or credit card in order to clear the block. Please make sure your address is correct in order to avoid any delivery delays. Address corrections may be made by contacting the Tax Assessor's Office at (401) 364-1233 or by printing the Address Change Form located under "General" on the Tax Assessor's Department Page.
Credit Card Payments
Please make sure your address is correct so there is no delay in receipt of any tax correspondence. Also, all Tax Bills are mailed separately.
