The 2023 Tax Bills were mailed Friday, July 14th, 2023. Your 2023 Tax Bills should have been received and your 1st & 2nd Quarter installments paid. The 1st quarter payments were due August 1st, 2023 and delinquent as of September 1st, 2023, the 2nd quarter was due November 1st and delinquent as of December 1, 2023,  for both Real Property and Tangible Tax Rolls. The 3rd quarter is due now and delinquent as of March 1, 2024. There are no Motor Vehicle Tax Bills for the 2023 Tax Roll, due to the State Motor Vehicle Phase-Out Program. If your tax bill is less than $100.00, the entire bill was due in the 1st Quarter. If you have not paid your 2022 Taxes, your account is past due and interest has accrued. All 2022 Taxes should be paid in full and if not, your 2022 Real Property & Tangible taxes are delinquent. Please contact us at (401) 364-1234 if you need updated balances due to delinquency.

If you are enrolled in the ACH Withdrawal program, we will make the adjustments for the updated Tax Roll figures and continue to process your payments, when due. If you have any questions regarding your ACH enrollment, please feel free to call or email.

Due dates for the 2023 Tax Bills are as follows: Quarter 1-due August 1st, 2023, Quarter 2-due November 1st, 2023, Quarter 3-due February 1st, 2024, and Quarter 4-due May 1st 2024. We do allow a grace period of the month the taxes are due. In order to avoid interest charges, please have your payment postmarked by the first of the month following the due date, for example, Quarter 1 must be postmarked by September 1st, Quarter 2 must be postmarked by December 1, and so on. The Tax Rate for 2023 taxes is $5.74 per $1,000 for Real Property and Tangible Accounts. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your assessment, please contact the Tax Assessor' Office at (401) 364-1233 and they will be happy to assist you.

Regarding Motor Vehicle Accounts; this would have been the last year of a 7 year Phase-Out program. The State of RI passed the Fiscal Year 2023 budget with funds available to complete the Phase Out Program 1 year earlier than scheduled. If you have not paid your previous years Motor Vehicle Tax Bills, your vehicle registration has been blocked and you will be unable to renew or register any new vehicle until all delinquent Motor Vehicle taxes are paid. Please note if you have delinquent Motor Vehicle taxes and your registration is blocked, all Motor Vehicle taxes will need to be PAID IN FULL prior to having the block cleared.

If you have received a delinquent notice or know your account has accrued interest, please contact the Tax Collector's Office at (401) 364-1234 to get an updated figure before sending in your payment. If you have received a delinquent notice on your Real Property account, it does not include your Motor Vehicle account and you will need to call for the interest on your Motor Vehicle account. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

If your registration is blocked, you will need to pay your taxes IN FULL, with cash, money order, bank check or credit card in order to clear the block. Please make sure your address is correct in order to avoid any delivery delays. Address corrections may be made by contacting the Tax Assessor's Office at (401) 364-1233 or by printing the Address Change Form located under "General" on the Tax Assessor's Department Page.
