Public Service Announcement: Dog Leash Laws
Charlestown, RI Public Service Announcement
Leash Laws
Charlestown Residents and Visitors
From our open fields of Ninigret Park to the scenic shorelines of Charlestown Breachway, our town is a beautiful place to walk with our canine companions. But sharing these spaces responsibly means following the law.
Under Charlestown Town Ordinance Chapter 103, your dog must always be kept under restraint and/or on a leash at all times when off your property. https://ecode360.com/8490502
Allowing your dog to run at large is a violation of public safety, and Charlestown Animal Control enforces strict escalating penalties:
https://charlestownri.gov/animalcontrol
- First Offense: $25.00 fine
- Second Offense: $50.00 fine
- Third Offense: $75.00 fine
Be a responsible owner/neighbor. Clip the leash!
And remember to
clean up after your pet and dispose of it properly!
