Charlestown Beach Road Pedestrian Safety Improvements

The Town of Charlestown is presently accepting sealed bids for The Complete Contractual Installation of Pedestrian Safety Improvements and Associated Appurtenances on Charlestown Beach Road as shown on Plans and Specifications by Crossman Engineering. Preliminary Estimate.
 
Work under this project includes:
 
·        Removal of unsuitable material
·        Provision and placement of signage and platforms  
·        Pavement markings as depicted
·        Installing improvements
·        Restoring, paved roadway and parking areas
·        Erosion protection, and Loaming and Seeding road shoulders and grassy infiltration swales
 
 
The Town of Charlestown is seeking bids for the entire project as a whole, and as separate prices for each of the three locations noted on page one of the Project Description. Unit prices shall be based on the Engineer’s Estimate of Quantities on the Bid Sheet as part of the project specifications. Plans and Specifications may be examined at the Town Clerk's Office, Town of Charlestown, 4540 South County Trail, Charlestown, RI. Monday through Friday, holidays excepted, from 8:30 am through 4:30 pm. Plans and Specifications may be obtained at the office of Crossman Engineering , 100 Jefferson Boulevard, Suite 200, Warwick, RI. 02888. The Contractor shall pay a fee of $25.00 payable to Crossman Engineering Inc. for each set of Plans and Specifications obtained.  Plans available no earlier than MARCH 12, 2025.
 
Questions regarding the project should be directed to Alan Arsenault, Director of Public Works, weekdays 7:00 am to 3:30 pm at (401) 364-1230. A pre-bid conference will be held on MARCH 19, 2025, at 9:00 am in the Town Council Chambers, Town Hall, 4540 South County Trail, Charlestown, RI. All bidders are encouraged to attend.
 
 
Sealed bids shall be addressed and delivered to the Town Clerk and will be received at the Town Clerk's Office until 3:00 p.m. on MARCH 31, 2025, at which time they will be opened publicly. Bids shall be clearly marked "CROSSWALKS" in the lower left-hand corner. Responses received after said time will not be accepted. Electronic delivery of said information in any form is prohibited. Documents incorrectly addressed, or misdirected to locations other than the Town Clerk's Office at the Town Hall (and which are not in the possession of the Town Clerk at the time of bid opening) for whatever cause, will not be accepted. Postmarks will not be considered proof of timely submission. Bidders must show evidence that they have the experience, capital, and equipment to perform the work as specified. The bid award will be made by the "Evaluated Method". Evaluation will be on the basis of cost, relevant experience, and qualifications.
 
 
The Town reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to accept that bid which it deems, in their sole judgment, to be in the best interest of the Town.
