Who is responsible for maintaining mooring tackle?
The Town of Charlestown only issues mooring permits, and does not maintain any town owned mooring tackle. All mooring tackle is privately owned, and the mooring permit holders responsibility. Keeping your mooring tackle in good standing, including making sure that mooring tackle inspections are completed every three years by a town qualified mooring service provider, is a responsibility and requirement to hold a mooring permit in Charlestown waters. If a mooring tackle issue is observed by the Harbormaster, you will be notified of such, at which point you will have to make arrangements with your mooring service provider to have the issue addressed.
